how long is the expected wait time for step 8? I'm wondering if my computer has stalled or it just takes a long time.

    • Luis Zacarias

did it ever work for you?

      • This is a direct download link – Safe and tested by us.

  • Reuben Tarran

I get "invalid Zip" or "Zip file corrupted"

    • Be aware of that you are downloading a very big file (File size: 5.17 Gb). So please make sure you download completely the Yosemite.DMG.Zip file.

      • Lara

hi, @kecodoc should the installer give me an option to clean install or update? how can i make sure it doesn’t do a clean install? i am on mountain lion and i don’t want a clean inst. thanks

  • David Luu

Is Yosemite no longer offered on the App Store with release of El Capitan? I have a Mavericks system set up and it is listing El Capitan for upgrade. Trying to search App Store for Yosemite doesn’t give result. Using the iTunes/App Store link here returns “The item you’ve requested is not currently available in the U.S. store.”

    • John Lendved

Getting the same thing. Think Apple removed Mavericks from the App Store. They tend to jump the gun on this kind of thing.

      • David Luu

That’s sad. Unless the actual file storage & link is really removed (I’ve not tested yet), one can still download if you previously downloaded old OSes before with your App Store account (it shows in purchase history), it’s likely just not available to the general public anymore (for “new” downloads). I have Mavericks, but too bad I didn’t download Yosemite before, so I don’t have it in my purchase history to download from App Store.

So the smart move going forward is to always download new releases even if you’re not going to install it, in case you want it in the future.

It’s the same thing with App Store apps, an app might go away in public listings but if you’ve downloaded/bought it before, it’s still downloadable from your account (unless Apple banned the app).

        • Eric Rudawski

Thank you for the tip above – I was able to get the ISO from my previous downloads.
          Do you want it?

          • David Luu

No, that’s ok. I already got it from this page. It would be nice to have it available in my Apple App Store purchases (as a previous download). Unfortunately, there’s no way to enable that if you don’t get the chance to download it from App Store before Apple removes the public store page link.

          • Armando Romé

            Hi Eric,
I upgraded to OS X El Capitan but I’m having issues with the update. I was looking to downgrade to my older version Yosemite, but can find it in the App Store, I didn’t downloaded it before into my account because when I bought my imac it was already installed. I read your comment about having the previous ISO, do you mind sending me a copy, I would really appreciate it.
            Thanks

      • Tom Balint

It’s all still available for download as long as you had previously downloaded it. I can still download Lion. It’s all in Purchases in my App Store and the links still work. However, Snow Leopard was before the App Store and I’m trying to download it from this site (my CD has a scratch on it and no longer works) for an older MacBook. Hopefully, it isn’t a 6 gig download of garbage.

        • Jonas Lepond

“It’s all still available for download as long as you had previously downloaded it”
Thanks you so mush for this information.

          • Tom Balint

Also, if you live near an Apple Store they will load, for free, any of the operating systems that will work on your computer. You need to make a Genius Bar appointment first.

  • manoj91

  • Canticleer

Hi thanks for the installer file. I downloaded it from you server but I can’t install it on my MacBook Pro. When I try installing it I get the following message (I’ve tried to translate it to English):

“This copy of the OX X Yosemite installer program can not be checked (controlled). It is possible that the software is damaged or being messed with during download.”

Can you please tell me how I can get around this?

    Thanks a lot.

can I burn Mavericks.iso on windows using program ISO to USB then I install it on my MacBook Pro OR I miss something ?

  • Dick Hertz

This would not install. After booting the USB drive on my Mac, it started to install and then said that the installation could not be verified—that it could have been tampered with or corrupted during download. I know it wasn’t corrupted because the dmg mounted…

Instead of using Diskmaker I really recommend the usage of the official solution: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372

Everyone can confirm themselves if the downloaded package is valid and secure by using the command:
    shasum /Install OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.app/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg

Just look it up if the shasum corresponds with the result (Sha-1) at: https://github.com/drduh/macOS-Security-and-Privacy-Guide/blob/master/InstallESD_Hashes.csv
